What to Expect in the First Week After Having Your Baby
It’s been a long nine months, but finally, it’s time for your baby to enter the world. You are filled with anticipation and excitement, anticipating all of the joys that will come from raising this beautiful child. This post is intended to give you an overview of what to expect in the first week after having your baby.

#1 Rest
The first thing you must do is rest. Your body has been through a lot, and it needs time to heal. In addition, you will be exhausted after giving birth, so spend as much of the first week in bed as possible. You should still allow yourself plenty of sleep each day because any stress on your body can affect how quickly you recover from childbirth. Be sure that visitors understand this point; they might want to drop off meals or offer help with chores around the house, but now isn’t the best time for either one.
If people are willing to take care of some errands for you while you’re resting at home, let them know what days would work best during their visit. Although most new mothers feel up for some company during the first week after having their baby, it’s essential to plan ahead. Think about how you’ll feel when people come over and whether or not you want them there for this particular time.
#2 Bonding
The first thing you should do after having your baby is spending time bonding with him or her. Make sure to have plenty of skin-to-skin contacts as well as breastfeeding, if possible. If you’re not able to nurse right away, just focus on holding and snuggling your little one. It’s also a good idea for new mothers to call their own mothers during the first week after having their baby; it will help them feel like they aren’t alone in this adventure! It can be hard at times, but try to rest and bond with your child without letting too many visitors come over until later in the week. This way, both of you can get used to all that has happened.
#3 Plan the christening
If you’re planning on baptizing your child, now would be the perfect time to do it! You can choose a date that works best for both of you, and get your little angel a Holy communion dress for the big day. Just remember that this is only one day – and there’s still plenty more to come in having a baby! The first week after having your baby will be over before you know it, so try not to worry too much about anything. After all, everything has turned out just fine so far!
#4 Organize
Now is a good time for new mothers to organize everything they will need in the coming weeks. If you have friends who are willing, ask them if they’re able to stock up your fridge and pantry with meals. Just be sure that everyone understands that now isn’t the best week for visitors or errands. By organizing yourself as well as possible, you’ll feel less stressed out about what’s ahead – which means both of you can get back on track towards enjoying life together!
