The First Trimester Of Pregnancy: What To Expect
Hello again, I know it has been a while and I have been gone quite some time, but as you can see from the title and you may of seen on my social medias. I AM PREGNANT AGAIN!!! I honestly never thought I would get pregnant again due to my Hyperemesis and complications during my first pregnancy, but we have always wanted two children so here we are.
This was a planned pregnancy and I am so so so grateful that we are able to have another baby again, I will just quickly tell you what happened during my first pregnancy.
FIRST PREGNANCY
During the first first trimester with my little girl Olivia, I had Hyperemesis and couldn’t keep any food or liquids down for months. I got so badly dehydrated and malnourished that I have been left with Kidney Disease now 🙁 Anyway, second trimester I started getting very bad pains in my pelvis and right leg. The midwifes put it down to the pregnancy but I knew something wasnt right, I know a lot of people that have been pregnant and this was not something that they had ever experienced.
This went on right until I gave birth, during the third trimester I developed high blood pressure, Obstetric Cholestasis and gestational diabetes. I was also being monitored with my graves disease ( under active thyroid). To cut a long story short I ended up getting preeclampsia towards the end of my pregnancy, I was induced and she was delivered by Forceps.
After Olivia was born I started throwing up blood and my body started to shut down, I couldn’t breathe with out being in pain everywhere! So after a lot of pushing to see different doctors I ended up having a huge infection/abscess in my pelvis that was about to burst. I thank god every day that my daughter is here and healthy!
Anyway so they found that my kidney had shut down and all of my organs were badly effected which has left me with other diseases such as Celiacs Disease. Eventually I was given a 7 month course of Antibiotics Doxycycline and got better and here we are again pregnant.
You can probably imagine I am pretty scared of being pregnant again but I have said to my doctor any pains I want to have a blood test and be checked regularly just to be cautious.
SECOND PREGNANCY
I am aware a lot of people don’t share there pregnancy until 12/13 weeks but my subscribers and Instagram followers were messaging me because they literally knew I was pregnant by how quiet I was. So we announced it at 9 weeks and I am now 11 weeks 2 days.
Firstly I said to my partner I honestly don’t know if I can do this again because of the hyperemesis and the damage my last pregnancy did but he said maybe you won’t get that sick again…….
HAHA so Im at 5 weeks I feel ok, I get to 6 weeks I feel ok, so I start to think wow maybe this pregnancy is going to be completely different and I won’t be sick. Heres what to expect.
I was to big headed and ended up getting very sick at 7 weeks, so I am going to share a break down of my weeks up to 12 weeks.
Week 5- Felt very bloated no nausea
Week 6- Nausea started creeping in and I felt SO tired, I could hardly cope through the day with out a nap.
Week 7- The vomiting started and I was retching constantly at everything especially smells.
I had supersonic smell and could smell things my family couldn’t and would just vomit at everything, shower gels, wet towels, my daughter after getting her out of the bath with her wet hair, foods, perfumes, aftershaves literally EVERYTHING!
Week 8- Every smell was getting worse and really bothering me, I had such a heightened sense of smell. I had to put vicks under my nose everyday to get through. Constipation and diareah started 🙂
Week 9- Nausea and tiredness, food aversions were really bad couldn’t eat much at all. I did not want meat at all like chicken and mince etc. EW! Food aversion to my favourite meal spaghetti bolognese 🙁
Struggling with nappy changes with out throwing up and cramps/stretching pains.
Week 10- Sickness started dying down a bit, I started using sickness bands. It then came back on Sunday I vomited 3 times. Cravings started with Ice cream twister lolly and salt and vinegar crisps.
MIGRAINES
Week 11- MIGRAINES
All I want to eat is cold salad crunchy foods, craving onions all the time lol.
Low appetite, drinking loads of milk, eating lots of cheese, salt n vinegar crisps sandwich, vinegar on chips, lettuce, cucumber peppers etc.
The migraines and sickness have been the absolute worst, I have never experienced a migraine like this before.
I am at 11 weeks and 2 days now and I am starting to feel a bit like myself, so hopefully we keep going in this direction which is why I am able to sit here and write this post.
Tips for pregnancy sickness:
- Eat regularly and small like crackers etc.
- soft mints all day
- sip lemonade all day
- sickness bands
- rest as much as possible, its worse when your tired
