How To Move In Less Than A Month
Most people give themselves at least six months to move. That’s enough time to sort out all the packing, deal with the finances, and prepare any documentation.
But sometimes, you only have a month to move, and it can feel impossible.
Fortunately, this post is here to help. We take a look at some of the ways you can effectively move in less than a month and still get everything done.
Eliminate Clutter Every Day
Make eliminating clutter your number one priority in the run-up to your move. Take time every day to get rid of items that you don’t need or want to take with you. Reduce the number of possessions you have to the bare minimum. Avoid the temptation to hang onto things that are only going to get in the way come moving day.
Take Out The Trash
Next, take out the trash. Keep everything as clean as possible. Remember, if you’re selling your house, you’ll need to get a buyer as quickly as possible. You don’t want mess and detritus everywhere to put them off. Spend at least three hours every day just cleaning, vacuuming, and preparing your property for showings. Make it abundantly clear that your intention is to sell and make your property look beautiful.
Get Professionals To Pack For You
If you’re moving in less than a month, you probably don’t have time to pack. It’s not something you want to be doing in the middle of the night.
That’s why professionals, such as Two Men And A Truck, recommend getting experts to pack for you. They can do this on the day of the move, freeing you up for other things. In other words, you don’t have to give up your weekends.
Sell Old Stuff Online
Today, there are all sorts of websites out there that let you sell stuff online. Rather than hosting a yard sale that takes up all your time, spend an afternoon collecting everything that you want to sell and then wrapping items in boxes. Then, when buyers become available, stick their address label on the front and ship the item.
The great thing about these sales is that they help you declutter and make money at the same time. You can get rid of all the large objects you don’t need anymore and replace them with things that are actually going to come in handy.
Get Help
You don’t have to prepare for your house move all by yourself. There are plenty of people who will gladly help you, should the time come.
Ask friends and family to give you a hand with boxes and crates. Extra pairs of hands make the process much easier and get everything done in less than half the time.
It’s also great if your moving company insists on finishing by a certain time. If you arrive at your new property at 2 pm, you can have everything off the truck by 6 pm. It’s so much easier when you have six to eight people compared to just one or two.
